Blogging at the Speed of Life

new life

Sitting in front of the computer, I don’t know where to start.  Blogging has been the most dedicated practice I have ever had in my life and the last 6 months Life pushed me off my game so I could pay attention to it.  This Summer I got sick and discovered I had uterine cancer.  It took awhile for me to get the surgery that was recommended.  But Life has its way of moving you into what is important. Its trick:  The more I needed to slow down, the less my computer worked.  I was pulled far from my blogging life.

Surgery behind me now….Today I woke up at 4:40 a.m. missing this space so much.  I grabbed my laptop and headed out for Sandi’s Diner.  Sandi is a dear friend who makes a mean breakfast at the break of dawn.   AND, also has internet.  SCORE!

The big question….would my computer work there?  Was something wrong with my internet or with my laptop.  If you are reading this, you will know the answer.  What was impossible at home is working like magic here.  Maybe life is just letting me loose.  Saying, go…spread your wings…you are free.

And that is how I feel these days.  Free.

I spent last month traveling back and forth to Houston’s MD Anderson, a world class cancer hospital that happens to be in my area of the world.  My hubby, Eric, went with me and several times we comment how we felt wrong for having such a good time at the hospital.  But they must have someone trained with running big places like Disney working there because it ran like a theme park.  I like to joke that they have a game you play there….take off your clothes, put them back on…take off your clothes, put them back on…and I was winning.  Yep, lots of tests.  Then the surgery.  And just last week, a check-up.

They feel like my prognosis is really good.  It doesn’t seem to have spread. YAY!  So they will keep an eye on my health every 3-4 months.

I chose the word THRIVE as my word of the year for 2014.  That’s what I am doing!

I have some catch up to do for Creativity Tribe.  My email has been down.  I hope to have that working in the next week.  If you tried to contact me and didn’t hear back from me…it was a little email snatching gremlin.

Big beautiful hugs to each of you.

  1. Been looking over your site’s options and just got to this page. I’m impressed by the U’s timing since you just got back here on 4/18 and I just found out about you on 4/24 after my own laptop had been out-of-commission for 5 or 6 weeks and in and out of laptop hospital and UPS trucks. Hmmmm. As an Aries, for years I’ve noticed how certain things opened up and/or expanded for me at this time of year. Wonder what’s next?

    • I think that probably happens for everyone around their birthday. Love the synchronicity. Welcome!

      • Thank you, Rachel. Hope to see more of you now. Like many, I’m still bouncing up-and-down but in my recent quest for more creativity and more likemindeds in my life, I’m writing a book. Yes, ME. For years when folks would hear my various annecdotes, they would say “You should write a book,” and I’d cringe. I worked on a possible biodoc, but it hasn’t come together. At the senior community where I moved two years ago to for cheapish rent and lots of green stuff, I checked out an interesting-sounding writing class 3 months ago and it’s become a real lynch pin. Last week I decided the anecdotal pieces would form themselves into a book eventually, may called “The Reluctant Writer” or “That Book I Never Wanted to Write.” I love the teacher and the opportunity to read twice a month from what I’m working at, and I’m motivated to keep moving with it. Along with it being fun and creative, it’s, of course, therapeutic and growth-making.

        Best to you and everyone,

        • Elli, love hearing that you are keeping your creativity moving. You do so much, it is exciting to add another petal to your blooming creativity!

          • Thanks, Rachel. I know you’re busy and don’t get here much, maybe you have an idea for me. Years ago I was online a lot with other likemindeds, where I met Julie Jordan Scott. Been searching for a likeminded group active in sharing life coaching and support. Thoughts where to begin?

          • Elli, if you are looking for a space to connect with life coaches, I sometimes hang out with the Kickass CTI Coaches on FB. The like-minded support I get mostly comes out of Leonie Dawson’s Amazing Life + Biz Academy. If you take a look at my sidebar, you will see, I am an affiliate for it (just as a heads up) but the truth is, it is full of people doing great work…doing creative work….and supporting one another. I have made some great connections there.

          • Thanks. I’ll take a look.

  2. SO happy the surgery went well and you are in full recovery mode! Keeping you in my prayers that all is well from this point onward.

    • Thank you Grace! That means a lot! So happy to have you connecting with me again. (Big smile here!)
